Today I want to talk about clutter—and why it’s such a big part of feng shui today, even though you won’t find it in the ancient texts.

The truth is, clutter is a modern problem. In traditional times, people simply didn’t consume and accumulate the way we do now. Ancient feng shui focused on the flow of energy—the life cycle of energy—and how to arrange it so it felt beneficial and supportive.

But in modern homes, clutter gets in the way.
• It blocks energy flow.
• It lowers the frequency of a space.
• It becomes a mental and visual distraction, leaving you feeling scattered and overwhelmed.

What’s most important to understand is this:
clutter is usually a symptom, not the root problem. It shows up where the energy is already stagnant, heavy, or unsupportive.

And that’s why when you finally do declutter, you feel such an immediate shift. You’re not just clearing stuff—you’re giving energy permission to move again.
That’s the good news. But in my next newsletter, I’ll share why that “decluttering high” doesn’t always last—and what you can do to create real, long-term change.

*This post is part of my 5-part series on clutter and feng shui. In it, I’m sharing why clutter is more than “too much stuff,” how it affects energy, and how feng shui can help you create a home that truly supports you.
