Clients often ask me, “What’s the difference between energy clearing and Feng Shui?” Both are about improving how a space feels, but they work on different levels, and understanding that difference helps you create lasting change in your home.

Energy clearing focuses on what’s happening in the moment. It removes emotional residue, stress, or heaviness that has built up over time. This can come from daily life, past experiences, or even other people’s energy. A good clearing refreshes the atmosphere, making your home feel open, peaceful, and lighter to breathe in.
The tools and how they’re used:

There are many ways to clear energy, and the right approach depends on the energy of the space, your personal sensitivity, and what feels natural to you.

• Sound is one of the most universal tools. Bells, singing bowls, chimes, or rhythmic clapping help break up stagnant energy and restore flow. Sound vibrations move through walls and corners, reaching places where energy tends to collect.

• Smoke from sage, palo santo, incense, or burning resins like frankincense is another traditional method. The smoke is believed to attach to dense or heavy vibrations, carrying them out of the space as it disperses. It is especially powerful when used with clear intention, visualizing what you are releasing and what energy you are inviting in.

• Salt and essential oils offer grounding and purification. A bowl of sea salt in each room can absorb unwanted energy, while essential oil sprays with lavender, citrus, or cedarwood can lift and brighten the overall feel.

• Movement and breath are also part of clearing. Opening windows, letting in sunlight, or moving through each room with mindful breathing creates a natural reset. Sometimes, simply rearranging or sweeping through your home with presence can clear as effectively as any tool.

• Intention, prayer, or visualization act as subtle yet powerful methods. Your focused attention directs energy more precisely than any object can. When you set a clear intention, such as “May this space be peaceful and aligned with joy,” you shift the vibration at its source.

• Reiki-energy healing can also be used to restore balance and clarity. It works gently yet deeply to harmonize the energy of both the home and its occupants, supporting overall calm and vitality.

The goal is always the same: to reset the energy so it feels fresh, balanced, and aligned with your current self.

Feng Shui, on the other hand, works on the structure that allows energy to move. It is about how Chi flows through your home, where it enters, where it slows down, and how it nourishes each area of your life. When furniture, colors, or clutter block that movement, the space naturally becomes stagnant again, no matter how many times you clear it.

Clearing without proper flow is like cleaning the air in a room with the windows still shut. It feels better for a while, but the heaviness creeps back in. Once the Feng Shui layout supports circulation, your clearings become maintenance rather than repair, and your home holds its balance naturally.

In my own practice, I offer standalone energy clearings, onsite or virtual, that are ideal when your home feels heavy, stuck, or in transition. However, I find the most lasting results come when energy clearing and Feng Shui work together. My Feng Shui packages include an energy clearing so the physical, energetic, and emotional layers of your space align. This combination creates a foundation that helps your home maintain flow and harmony with ease.

If you are ready to support both the energy and the flow of your home, I would love to help. Let’s connect about what’s going on and how I can support you.
