The spring real estate season is heating up, so I’ve decided to share a series about Feng Shui and Energy Clearing as it relates to buying, selling, moving, and building or renovating. Getting these big transitions right can be life-altering in more ways than one.
Let’s start with buying a home. It’s a big decision, but for deeper reasons than most people consider.
A home holds energy, and that energy affects how you feel day to day. It influences your sleep, mood, relationships, and your ability to truly settle in. Two houses can look nearly identical and feel completely different. Light, layout, land, and the history of the space all play a role. None of this shows up in a listing, but you’ll feel it over time.
Most people shop based on logic, focusing on price, location, beds and baths, schools, and commute. Instinct and vibe matter too, but they’re easy to override, (especially when you’re excited or under pressure to decide quickly).
When we bought our home, we had a clear list of wants and needs. This house checked many of those boxes, but more importantly, it felt right the moment we walked in. At the same time, I could see Feng Shui issues that needed attention, including missing areas and bathrooms in key locations. These were negative energy flows that needed to be addressed so the home would not be working against us.
That’s the piece most people miss. A home can make sense on paper and still lack the energetic support you need. Without addressing that, it can feel like nothing quite clicks after you move in.
In real life, this can show up in ways that are easy to dismiss at first. You might find it hard to sleep in a certain room, or notice that one area of the home never feels comfortable no matter how you decorate it. Sometimes it shows up in patterns, like increased tension in relationships, difficulty focusing or moving forward in work, or a sense of feeling stuck after a move that was supposed to feel like a fresh start. These experiences aren’t always dramatic, but over time they can affect how supported you feel in your own space.
Adding your personal touches can help, but only to a point. If there are underlying imbalances, furniture and decor won’t fix them. What truly changes how a home feels, and how well it supports your health, relationships, and forward movement, is shifting those underlying patterns directly.
When you understand what’s happening energetically, you can make a more informed decision about whether a home is the right fit and whether any needed adjustments feel manageable. That’s why I often work with people at this stage. It’s not that you can’t feel things yourself, but there is more to read beneath the surface. Getting that perspective before you decide can mean the difference between a home that supports ease and one that quietly creates friction over time.
Buying a home isn’t just about finding something that works. It’s about choosing a space that truly supports your life.
